The Picerne Collection of Arizona Landmark Art showcases early twentieth century landscape paintings of the Grand Canyon State. The Collection includes work by a wide range of artists -some famous, some lesser known.
The Kolb Studio Exhibition of the Picerne Collection will offer a visual experience of forty different artistic interpretations of the Grand Canyon, along with biographical information on the painters who found inspiration in one of the nation's greatest landmarks. Featured will be paintings by artists from a variety of schools and backgrounds including the Taos Society, California plein air, desert painters, Arizona women artists, and Santa Fe Railway artists. A number of different styles will be represented including Realism, Tonalism, Modernism, Impressionism and Cubism. Also included will be several pieces by well known Grand Canyon painters Gunnar Widforss and James Swinnerton.
