Ed Sandoval

Ed Sandoval is a man who is true to his roots. Born in Nambe, in northern New Mexico , the inspiration for his paintings come in large part from the memories and stories he heard when he was young. These images are part of what he calls “the old days” in northern New Mexico , a time of dirt roads and old pickup trucks and work horses plowing fields. This attachment to his past and cultural heritage clearly defines his style, which he describes as “romantic expressionism”. His paintings have a very vibrant and alive yet spiritual quality, capturing the natural beauty of the region while portraying a simpler era when time moved at a slower pace.

Ed acquired his Bachelor's degree in Fine Art from Eastern New Mexico and his Masters Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah . He worked as a carpenter and adobe home contractor for several years before moving to Taos in the early 90's to pursue a full time career in fine art . Since then he has won numerous awards and been featured in several exhibitions. He has been featured on the Cover of Southwest Art and mentioned on NBC's Today Show. Ed has been the selected poster art ist for numerous events including the Taos Fall Arts Festival(2002), Santa Fe Wine Festival (2002), Santa Fe Opera(2000) and the Taos Solar Music Festival(multiple years). In 2000 he was the feautured cover art ist for the Taos phone book.

Today Ed lives in Taos , New Mexico , where he is frequently seen riding through town on his Arabian horse, Cinco de Mayo or in his blue 51 Chevy truck. He lives with his wife Ann Huston, also an a cc omplished artist, and their son in an adobe house built by Ed.
