The state of Arizona is blessed with some of the most spectacular and recognizable natural landmarks in North America.  This scenic beauty has captured the imagination of artists worldwide since Thomas Moran and the Grand Canyon painters of the late 19th Century.  The tradition continues today. The Picerne Arizona Landmark Art Collection has been put together for the purpose of showcasing fine Arizona landmark art, focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on early Twentieth Century landscape paintings. Scores of artists with diverse styles and backgrounds are represented. Included are well known painters on a national and regional basis, as well as those historically lesser known or underappreciated.  The collection currently offers a visual experience of over sixty different artists and one hundred paintings of the mountains, deserts, and canyons of the Grand Canyon State.

Over thirty pieces from the collection will be on display during The Greatest Earth on Show at the Phippen Museum in Prescott, Arizona beginning in October, 2009.  Various paintings from the collection will remain on exhibit through the Arizona Centennial in 2012. Select works will also be shown at the Blue Coyote Gallery during this time.

In 2011 a book featuring the collection will be published.  Written by Blue Coyote Gallery owner Gary Fillmore, curator for the Arizona Landmark Art Collection. the book will be titled Red Rocks and Cactus- One Hundred Images for One Hundred Years. Along with biographical information on the scores of featured artists who found inspiration in the state’s abundant beauty, the book will offer a historical record of who visited the state along with those who chose to stay. Like the collection, it will provide a rich combination of art and history, as well as help foster an appreciation of the state’s natural gifts.
